STAR APPEAL: Ballerinas can get a lesson from the dancing queen

FORMER Queensland Ballet dancer Natalie Havas is ready to share her talent with first-time ballerinas.

The Auchenflower resident will teach introduction to ballet classes at Bardon dance school, 2ballerinas.

"Ballet is becoming more popular with current television shows such as Dancing with the Stars," Mrs Havas said.

"People want to dance and many are keen to exercise. I’ve even had a truck driver do ballet classes."

Mrs Havas joined the Queensland Ballet in 1995 and in 2000 left the company to pursue other interests.

She spent time with the World Dance Company performing numerous international dance styles for their Journeys tour, followed by a stint with Expressions Contemporary Dance Company.

She then took up freelance and guest teaching throughout Queensland and New South Wales.

Mrs Havas said it was important for dancers to have fun in a positive and friendly environment.

"You don’t need to have any experience. We have people aged from 18 through to 50 but anyone can do it," she said.

2ballerinas is directed by Michelle Giammichele and Rosetta Cook.

Classes are held at St Bernard's Studio, corner of Kennedy Tce and Lizzie St, Bardon.
