We will be taking bookings for the guest teachers classes, just in case they fill up and to avoid the classes being too full. It most likely won’t be a problem - but just in case if you are planning on coming to any of these classes please let us know by email.

We have a running order of the dances -
    Starting in studio 2
    1 - Gail level 1 tap
    2 - Dale level 2 tap
    Move into studio 1
    3 - Michelle level 1 ballet
    4- Kitty level 2 ballet
    5 - Natalie level 1 jazz Sunday/Monday classes
    6 - Kathleen level 2 pointe
    7 - Fiona level 3 contemporary
    8 - Kim beginner pointe
    9 - Anastasia level 2 contemporary
    10 - Clare level 1 & 2 ballet
    11 - Eddi level 3 ballet
    12 - Larissa beginner pointe
    13 - Kathleen level 4 ballet
    14 - Tango Rosetta & Nigel
15 - Natalie gentle jazz and level 2
Also just to note to bring a camping chair if you have one - we will have some seating but just in case we need more.
Looking forward to the performances and a fun party - our 11th!
    Best wishes

Teachers gift giving from classes at the Xmas Party

In the past the tradition has been that the students in class have given gifts to their teachers at the Xmas party. As the school has grown so much and there are so many classes and different teachers and students coming and going we think it is best that we try something different.
If classes feel like they would like to give a gift to their teacher can you please do this before the end of the year at the last class.

We will be posting photos of the Christmas Party on Facebook and Instagram, so if you advent already please like us on  Facebook and follow us on Instagram

After much consideration we have decided to not continue the membership card until further notice. We apologise for the quick change of mind so soon after the last update, but unfortunately we find that we are now not in a position to be able to sustain the cards. We will be reviewing this next year and looking into another kind of membership or card that is beneficial to all.
All cards (5,10 or 20 class and current monthly memberships) will have their expiry dates extended to allow fo the 2 weeks break.

Michelle will be taking this class tomorrow Dec 2 and Rosetta will be taking Dec 10.
    Best wishes

Bookings have just opened for The Australian Ballet’s Alice in Wonderland choreographed by Christopher Wheeldon.
We are arranging a group booking for the Saturday night performance at 7.30pm on March 2nd. We can get seats in the middle of the stalls at the group booking price for $99. This is also on the same evening when David McAllister does a talk on the ballet at 5pm, so people may wish to book for that as well separately.
    It looks fantastic!
Please email Michelle if you would like to join us.
...and while we are here just a quick guest teacher announcement  - we have Sarah Thompson teaching three classes this coming week while she is back in Brisbane briefly from Staatsoper Hannover ballet company. We hope you are all keeping warm this winter!
We just have small newsletter this time…

This coming Sunday there will be a photographer coming to the Contemporary, Jazz and Ballet classes to take some images for our website.  After the ballet class at 1.15pm we need volunteers to be in some set up shots. So if you can’t make class but can turn up for photos that would wonderful! -  the more people the better. Don’t be shy - we really want great images to show our lovely school community.

Our Fitbarre half hour class on Thursdays at 6pm is the perfect way to get you warm (and fit and strong) for winter! This class normally costs $12 casual - so it will be just $6 per person with a friend.

Our 10th Anniversary year is turning out to be a big one and certainly is not slowing down until Christmas.

We are now excited to announce that we will be starting tango!

    a little about tango...

Argentinean Tango is a social partner dance that can be enjoyed by anyone of any age or dance experience. It is different to ballroom tango and various cliche tango performances that can be seen in some movies and popular culture.

The main difference is that Argentinean Tango is based on a unique improvisation technique, which is what makes it so enjoyable and fun to dance.

    Class Times

We will be running the following classes to start with -

1.30 - 2.30pm Intermediate Tango a drop in class for those with prior tango experience. Pay casually for $16 or purchase a class card.

2.30 - 3.30pm Introduction to Tango 5 week Course.  Suitable for complete beginners or as a refresher.  We will aim to keep partner numbers equal (leader and follower roles) so everyone has a partner to dance with. We rotate partners but if you are coming in a couple and wish to dance together that is fine too.

Cost $75. This includes an optional half hour practise session following the class.

    What to wear/bring

Wear casual clothing that is easy to move in. Street or dance wear is fine.

Women’s shoes:  Leather soles that you can pivot in with a heel height that is comfortable.

Men’s shoes: Leather soles that you can pivot in.

The classes will be taken by Nigel Douglas and Rosetta. Both have had many years experience teaching and dancing Argentinean Tango.

Please email if you have any further questions.

They think the mixture of interval training with social interaction could be the key factor.

Western Sydney University associate professor Dafna Merom said their research has found that people who participate in dance have a 49 per cent reduction in risk of dying from cardiovascular disease...

    Hi Everyone

Something urgent has come up hence this Newsletter coming so close to the other ... in addition, we have popped in a few more bits of news that have come up!

Due to unforseen problems with the wooden floor at 80 Enoggera Tce we have decided to move the classes back to the Bardon venues immediately commencing from next week.

The Tuesday Introduction Course and Level 1 classes will now be held in the Lizzie St Hall Bardon at the same times.

The Saturday Introduction course will be held in the top studio on the corner of Lizzie St and Kennedy Tce and moved to the new time of 12.30pm.

The current Lizzie St Tuesday Open/ level 3 class at 7.15 has been cancelled but there will still be a Level 2 class from 8 - 9pm in the studio on the corner of Lizzie st and Kennedy Tce.

We apologise for these sudden changes but it was necessary to do so for the best outcome for our students.

We have just heard from Karen that she will be teaching the Sugar Plum Fairy solo in the repertoire workshop. She will be adjusting the solo to suit varying levels so its fine for Level 2 and up.

The workshops are next week Sunday 3rd.

The regular Sunday classes are cancelled due to the Workshops taking place.

We will be starting to sell raffle tickets from next week that will be drawn at the Christmas Party (This year the Party is on Saturday 14th December at 4pm). The proceeds for the raffles for this year will be going towards bringing a special guest teacher from Interstate for workshops and classes next year. We will be announcing the guest teacher at the Party.

We have a great list of prizes which will be up on the noticeboard. You can get raffle tickets from Michelle, Rosetta and our Xmas helpers Helen, Robyne, Richard and Lyn. They will make themselves know at class if you aren't sure who they are.

    Best wishes

    Rosetta and Michelle
