Lots of info in this Newsletter – we have a new date for Sunday workshops, a reminder for our next upcoming 5 week courses and an update on Level 2 Jazz.
UPDATE ON SUNDAY WORKSHOPS – NEW WORKSHOP MAY 27
We have decided to run two separate afternoons of workshops instead of one full day. We now have SUNDAY MAY 27 as well as SUNDAY JULY 1 to add to your calendars.
..and so for our first one on May 27 we can announce two exciting workshops –
Matthew Bourne’s The Nutcracker workshop with Noi Tolmer at 2. 30- 4.00pm. This is suitable for Level 1 and up. Cost $30.
We feel so fortunate to be able to offer this workshop with Noi who has been teaching for us was Principal Dancer with Matthew Bourne’s Company New Adventures. Sadly (for us) Noi will be leaving Australia to live in Ireland so we hope you will take this opportunity to gain an insight into this amazing choreographers work.

Bourne’s version of The Nutcracker is set in a repressed orphanage run by strict Matrons, Clara dreams that one day she would be adopted and taken away. She dreams and finds herself in Sweetieland. The piece Noi will be teaching is from Act 2. It opens up where Clara goes to Sweetie land and meets various characters of sweets from Marshmallow, Licorice Allsorts, Fairy Floss and Gobstopper. Noi will work with the workshop participants to create their own characters as dancers in the company would, then they will learn some of the opening dance sequence.
Whether you are a ballet, Contemporary, Jazz or Tap student this will suit you.

Hip Hop workshop for beginners with Sam Cosgrove at 1.15 – 2.15pm. Cost $20
This is a great opportunity to try out some hip hop with one of Brisbane’s best hip hop dancer/teacher..

SWING/ROCK AND ROLL and CONTEMPORARY 5 WEEK INTRODUCTION COURSES STARTING SOON
Its not long until these new 5 week courses start. Please let us know soon if you are intending on coming so we can keep enough places available. Cost $85.
Swing/Rock and Roll 3.30 – 4.30pm starts Saturday May 12
Nigel Douglas will be teaching this fun easy partner dance style that can be very handy if you are out dancing anywhere and need some moves for the dance floor.
Contemporary 12.30 – 1.30pm starts Saturday May 12
We welcome back the amazing Anastasia Woolmer to teaching this course for us. Contemporary dance is a great way to explore expression of movement and develop a dance style of your own.
