Queensland's leading adult ballet school
Celebrating 10 Years
two ballerinas

Diana Kirk

My mother was a dancer in her youth and my father a singer and so I guess the music thing is in my blood. As a child, I attended classes in ballet, tap, acrobatics and highland (no contemporary or jazz in these days). As I am of somewhat short, stocky build, it was never my destiny to be a sylph or a Giselle, and so I moved on to other things when I left school. However, dancing has always remained part of my life. I qualified to teach when my children were little and taught for a number of years in England and Scotland. And, apart from a couple of 6-7 year breaks, I have continued to attend classes wherever I have lived.

My most recent break, a result of divorce/responsibilities/no money etc., left me in my late 40s with a body with no strength and a back that didn't bend and was sore. Although I've continued to attend classes, it's been difficult for me to find suitable classes and to find the motivation to make sufficient effort to get things really moving again. That is, until I discovered 2ballerinas! I now get to dance with lots of other adults, all from different dance backgrounds, but with a common passion. I get to be taught by two lovely people who, despite amazing dance credentials, are kind and encouraging towards our efforts. I get to dance beautiful combinations to beautiful music. Now in my late 50s, I'm amazed to feel my strength growing and my back issues sorting themselves out. How lucky I am and how grateful to Michelle and Rosetta.
